Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said that Russia is losing the war in the strategic dimension, and at the current rate of advance it would not be able to capture Ukraine even in 70 years. He said this during a joint press conference of the foreign ministers of the Lublin Triangle – Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania.
“At this rate, it will take Russia 70 years to capture Ukraine. It has to calculate what it will cost it,” the Polish diplomat said, stressing the Pyrrhic nature of Russia’s “victories”.
According to him, Ukraine is not losing the war: it has gained a significant advantage at sea, maintains parity in the air and holds its ground, despite the enemy’s fierce pressure.
Sikorsky stressed that it is Russia that is blocking the possibility of peace, although it is verbally willing to negotiate:
“This war can end in five minutes – when Putin orders a retreat. But for this to happen, the root causes – fascist ideology and Russian imperialism – must be eliminated.”
The Polish Foreign Minister called for the de-radicalisation of the Russian government and society to ensure lasting peace in Europe.
