A protest against Israel was held in Sydney, attended by only 60 people. During the event, there was an incident involving the detention of local rabbi Osher Feldman, which became the focus of Australian news. This was reported by Vesty.

Police use force against rabbi

Osher Feldman was forcibly removed from the rally by local police. The protesters not only opposed the Jewish state, but also actively supported Hamas, which was involved in the bloodshed in Israel on 7 October.

“I was treated like an animal”

In his interview with Sky News, Feldman expressed shock at the actions of the police. According to him, he came to the rally with an Australian flag, did not contact the protesters and behaved neutrally. However, the police unexpectedly used force without any warning.

Indignation at the actions of law enforcement officers

“They didn’t ask me to just leave,” the rabbi said, “they started dragging me like a dog. I asked them to pick up the bale that had fallen, but they refused.” Feldman also noted that if he had been holding a Hamas or Hezbollah flag, he would not have been detained.

“This is not the Australia I grew up in”

The rabbi, a fourth-generation Australian citizen, expressed frustration at how attitudes towards him have changed because of his nationality. He stressed that he is proud of his Jewish roots, but does not recognise the Australia he grew up in.
