NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has assured that the Alliance has sufficient resources to simultaneously respond to the crisis in the Middle East and support Ukraine, while European partners and Canada continue to increase military assistance to Kyiv. He said this during a public forum at the NATO Summit in The Hague, AFP reports.
When asked by the moderator whether the events in the Middle East were diverting attention from Ukraine, Rutte replied:
“We can handle more than one thing at a time. The Middle East is important, but Ukraine also remains in the focus of politicians and businesses. The Europeans and Canadians have already pledged €35 billion for military support to Ukraine this year, and last year this amount was more than €50 billion. And in the first half of 2025, we are already approaching €40 billion.”
Rutte stressed that unity and solidarity among allies is key to successfully responding to multidimensional security challenges, from hybrid and cyber attacks to classic military threats.
