On the evening of 8 May, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic posted a video with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in front of the Kremlin. The politicians are in Moscow to take part in events marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

“A fraternal meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico tonight in Moscow. Serbs and Slovaks, brothers forever!” Vucic wrote on Instagram, adding a video of them shaking hands against the backdrop of the evening Red Square.

The evening of 8 May ended with an official dinner with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Vucic, he held “cordial meetings” with a number of world leaders with whom he rarely has the opportunity to communicate.

On 9 May, the Serbian president announced talks with Putin and a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The participation of European politicians in the events in Moscow takes place against the backdrop of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine, which is causing sharp criticism among Western allies.
