A Ryanair passenger plane flying from Berlin to Milan made an emergency landing at Memmingen Airport (115 km from Munich) on Wednesday evening after being caught in a severe thunderstorm, Reuters reports .
According to the Bavarian police, nine passengers were injured as a result of severe turbulence during the flight. The victims were provided with medical care after landing.
“The weather conditions forced the pilot to make an emergency landing, which was safe,” the official statement from law enforcement said.
The incident is being investigated by local authorities and aviation security services. Meanwhile, Ryanair has not yet commented on the situation.
