Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Islamabad has “reliable information” about a possible military attack by India in the next 24-36 hours. This was reported by CNN
The statement came amid escalating tensions following a bloody attack on tourists in the disputed region of Kashmir that killed at least 26 people. India accuses Pakistan of supporting Kashmiri rebels, which Islamabad categorically denies.
India and Pakistan, two nuclear powers, have already fought three wars, two of which were over Kashmir. The region is now divided by a de facto line of control, but remains a source of constant tension.
The US and China called on both sides to exercise restraint. The US State Department said that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would hold talks with both countries. At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that any escalation “does not meet the basic interests of the parties” and threatens regional stability.
