The political line is cracking: Elon Musk attacks the Trump administration

Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has harshly criticised a bill promoted by the Donald Trump administration that would see a massive increase in US budget spending. According to Musk, the document “turns the US into a debt monster”, increasing the deficit to $2.5 trillion.
“This is a disgusting, garbage-filled aberration. Shame on those who voted for it – you know what you did,” Musk wrote on the X platform, which he controls.
It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt https://t.co/dHCj3pprJO
However, according to Axios, Musk’s public rhetoric is driven not only by financial concerns but also by personal resentment. According to sources, Musk expected a number of concessions from the White House – from tax breaks for Tesla to contracts for Starlink and lobbying for his ally Jared Isaacson to head NASA. None of these expectations were met.
The sudden cancellation of Isaacson’s nomination was particularly painful, which Musk took as a personal insult from Trump. Administration sources described the billionaire’s reaction as a “childish tantrum”.
“Musk wanted everything at once. And when he didn’t get it, he went on the offensive,” said one of Trump’s former advisers.
Although Trump’s law still needs to be approved by the Senate, Musk’s criticism was an unexpected blow from a key former ally ahead of the 2024 elections.
