Washington believes that the situation in Ukraine is approaching a “peaceful settlement”. This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance during a speech at the US military base Pituffik in Greenland.

“We trust, but we check. We make sure that what we see from one side is being delivered by the other side. But I think we’ve made incredible progress,” Vance said.

According to him, the United States is already observing the effect of the “energy truce” and has almost reached an agreement to end hostilities in the Black Sea.

What’s going on?

  • The US believes that the conflict in Ukraine is moving towards a resolution.
  • There is an “energy ceasefire” – limiting attacks on critical infrastructure.
  • Washington expects the situation in the Black Sea to stabilise and a ceasefire to be in place in the next stages.

“President Trump is going to fight every day, and we continue to make progress,” Vance said, stressing that the US will monitor the implementation of these agreements.
