US President Donald Trump has said that the country is building up its armaments at an unprecedented rate. He wrote about this on his social network X after a conversation with the US military leadership.
“Just had a great conversation with our military leaders. This is the strongest military we’ve ever had, including the fact that we’re amassing weapons at a rate our country has never seen before,” Trump wrote.
At the same time, the head of the White House expressed hope that the United States would not have to use these weapons, stressing the defensive nature of such a strengthening.
This statement was made against the backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions, including support for Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and new challenges from China and North Korea. Strengthening US defence capabilities is likely to be a key theme in Trump’s presidential campaign.
