Donald Trump, the 47th President-elect of the United States, made a statement after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, calling on both sides to negotiate. According to Trump, Zelenskyy and Ukraine want to conclude a deal with Russia and “stop the madness” that is going on because of the war. He wrote about this on Truth Social.

Trump stressed that Russia and Iran are in a weakened state: Russia because of economic problems and the war in Ukraine, and Iran because of Israel’s military success. At the same time, he noted that Ukraine has already lost more than 400,000 soldiers and many civilians.

“Too many lives have been needlessly lost, too many families have been destroyed. If this continues, it could turn into something much bigger and worse,” Trump stressed.

The former US president also called for an immediate ceasefire and noted that China could play a role in resolving the conflict. “The world is waiting!” he added.

This is not the first time Trump has made a statement calling for a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine, emphasising diplomatic negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
