United States President Donald Trump has officially stated that the United States had nothing to do with Israel’s strikes on Iran on Sunday night. He wrote about this on the Truth Social platform.
“The United States had nothing to do with the attack on Iran this evening. If Iran attacks us in any way, the full power and force of the American military will come down on you with unprecedented intensity. And yet we can easily reach an agreement between Iran and Israel and end this bloody conflict!” Trump said.
Tehran, in turn, has already accused the United States of coordinating Israeli strikes. In a statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that these actions “could not have taken place without the participation and approval of the United States”, and therefore it is Washington that is “responsible for the dangerous escalation”.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied the allegations: “Israel acted independently tonight. We did not take part in the strikes and our main goal now is to ensure the safety of American forces in the region.”
Trump also recalled that in the spring of this year he gave Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei 60 days to start new negotiations on a nuclear deal. As he stressed in a comment to CNN: “Today is the 61st day. We gave Iran a chance, but now the situation has changed”.
The US President called on Iran not to provoke the United States, while expressing hope that diplomatic talks could still resume.
The situation in the region continues to deteriorate amid Israeli strikes on targets in Iran and rising tensions between Tehran and Jerusalem. The United States, despite denying direct involvement, remains a key player in the balance of power.
