US President Donald Trump has publicly criticised the actions of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, saying that he is “killing a lot of people” and acting unpredictably, including by massively firing missiles at Ukrainian cities. Trump told reporters about this on Sunday at Morristown Airport (New Jersey) before flying to Washington, Newsweek reports.

“I am not happy with what Putin is doing. He’s killing a lot of people, and I don’t know what the hell happened to him. I’ve known him for a long time. I’ve always gotten along with him, but now he’s launching missiles into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all,” Trump said.

The politician emphasised that he did not support any of Putin’s actions towards Ukraine. According to him, even at the time of the talks, the Russian leader continues to shell Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, which completely contradicts any diplomatic efforts.

Asked by journalists about the information about the attack of Ukrainian drones near Putin’s residence, Trump suggested that it could have influenced his behaviour, but said: “I haven’t heard that.”

Trump also did not rule out the possibility of applying economic pressure on Russia, including the introduction of new tariffs, to force it to make progress in the negotiations.

“Something happened to this guy. He’s killing a lot of people. And I don’t like it at all,” Trump concluded.
