France will provide Ukraine with three Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets, which , according to the Avions Legendaires, will be delivered by 20 January.

Features of the aircraft transfer

These fighters were retired from the French Air Force and upgraded to perform more complex missions. In total, Ukraine may receive about ten such aircraft under agreements with the French side.

The publication’s sources also suggest that some Mirage aircraft are already on Ukrainian territory, but are currently being used for training Ukrainian pilots.

Significance for Ukraine’s defence capability

The Mirage 2000-5F is a multifunctional fighter that can perform both defensive and offensive missions. Its delivery will significantly strengthen the Air Force of Ukraine.

The transfer of the aircraft demonstrates the further strengthening of military cooperation between Ukraine and France, as well as the willingness of the partners to provide Ukraine with modern weapons to counter Russian aggression.

Ukrainian pilots are already undergoing appropriate training that will allow them to use these aircraft effectively in combat.
