In recent weeks, unidentified drones have been spotted flying over several strategic sites in Germany, including the US air base in Ramstein. This was reported by the German magazine Spiegel, citing a confidential report from security agencies.

Suspicious flights

According to the report, numerous drone flights took place on the evening of 3 and 4 December over the Ramstein base. This airbase is an important logistics centre for NATO and US operations in Europe. A security source confirmed the report to Reuters.

Incidents with drones have also been recorded over the facilities of the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall and the chemical giant BASF.

Reaction of the authorities and companies

There has been no official comment from the German Ministry of Defence. However, a BASF spokesperson said:

“The security of our facilities is a top priority. We actively cooperate with security authorities, reporting any suspicious activity.”

The threat of sabotage

German intelligence warns that supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia makes the country a potential target for sabotage. Recent incidents, especially near military bases, have only heightened these fears.

These developments highlight the growing vulnerability of critical infrastructure and strategic facilities in the context of current geopolitical tensions.
