The United States may impose new sanctions against Russia and is considering sending troops to Ukraine if the Kremlin refuses to hold peace talks on terms that guarantee Kyiv’s long-term security. This was stated by US Vice President J.D. Vance in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

“If Putin fails to negotiate in good faith, this option remains on the table,” Vance said.

According to him, the US has both economic and military levers of pressure on the Kremlin.

This statement came amid growing international pressure on Russia and discussions about the future format of security guarantees for Ukraine.

Support for Kyiv is expected to be a key topic of discussion at the upcoming meeting of NATO leaders.
