President of the United States of America Joe Biden has decided to postpone his planned trip to Germany due to the threat of Hurricane Milton. This information was confirmed by the White House press secretary, Karin Jean-Pierre, who said that “given the projected trajectory and strength of the hurricane, the president will postpone his trip to Germany and Angola to personally oversee hurricane preparations and response efforts, as well as coordinate the response to Hurricane Helene.”

Preparing for a natural disaster

On 6 October, Politico reported that the state of Florida is preparing for the possible evacuation of about 6 million people due to the approach of a new hurricane. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that the services continue to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which hit the state just 10 days ago, and are already actively preparing for a new emergency.

Hurricane Milton is a category five hurricane: weukraine.

Weather forecast

The National Weather Service predicts that by the middle of the week, Tropical Storm Milton will approach the US from the Gulf of Mexico, which could develop into a hurricane, threatening to flood coastal areas. This poses serious risks to the population and infrastructure.

Scheduled meeting of the Contact Group

It is worth noting that on 26 September, Joe Biden announced a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, scheduled for 12 October. The US president stressed that the meeting would be held at a high level, involving the leaders of partner countries, which underscores the importance of international support for Ukraine in the face of the ongoing war.
