Kyiv, 23 March 2025 – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the progress of negotiations in Saudi Arabia on 23 March, where the Ukrainian and American delegations are discussing ways to resolve the war waged by Russia against Ukraine. The transcript of the speech was published by the President’s press service.
“Today is the second meeting of the Ukrainian and American teams in Saudi Arabia. This time, it is more technical – our military, our diplomats, our representatives of the Ministry of Energy. […] Our team is working absolutely constructively, the conversation is quite useful,” Zelenskyy said. He added that he had received the latest information on the talks from Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, who is part of the Ukrainian delegation in Riyadh.
The President stressed that the main goal of Ukraine in these negotiations was to achieve real steps to stop Russian aggression. “The work of the delegations continues. But no matter what we talk about with our partners, we need to push [illegitimate Russian President Vladimir] Putin to give a real order to stop the strikes: whoever brought this war must take it away,” he stressed.
Zelenskyy also called on international partners to increase pressure on Russia to stop its terror against Ukraine. “It depends on all partners – from America, from Europe, from others in the world,” the president concluded, stressing the importance of joint efforts to achieve peace.
The talks in Riyadh were another step in the international community’s attempts to influence the situation in Ukraine, where Russia continues its military operations. The results of the meeting are expected to determine further steps to de-escalate the conflict.
