President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed our country’s active preparations for participation in the Group of Seven (G7) leaders’ summit to be held in June 2025 in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. The President announced this in his evening address on 23 May.
Zelenskyy noted that he had heard a report from Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga on foreign policy preparations for the summit. The Foreign Minister was also tasked with securing additional funding for the production of artillery shells and drones in Ukraine.
“I am grateful to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its work on preparations for the summit. This will be an important opportunity to strengthen support for Ukraine among the world’s leading democracies,” Zelenskyy said.
The invitation to participate in the summit came from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. The final decision on Zelenskyy’s personal participation has not yet been made.
