In his evening address , President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians are clearly aware of the threat posed by the Russian Federation and will defend the country by all means possible. According to him, despite attempts at diplomatic initiatives, it is Russia that continues its aggression, rejecting peaceful proposals.
“We understand who we are dealing with. We will defend ourselves with all the methods available to us, available to Ukraine, available to Ukrainians,” the Head of State stressed.
The President stressed that even before the start of the new phase of the massive attack, Ukrainian intelligence had reliable data on the preparation of another missile and drone strike. “Last night, Russians launched almost 500 drones. Every week they increase the number of weapons. They are also preparing Kalibr missiles from sea carriers,” Zelenskyy said.
He urged citizens not to ignore air raid warnings, as the danger remains high: “It is very important for all our people not to ignore air raid warnings. The life of every Ukrainian is a priority.”
The President also reminded that Ukraine had not wanted this war and had accepted the American proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire on 11 March. “But it was the Russians who refused. They want to continue the war, despite the fact that the whole world is demanding to stop the killings,” Zelenskyy said.
He stressed the need for comprehensive pressure on Russia: “We need pressure – pressure from sanctions, pressure from our forces, pressure from diplomacy. Everything must work together to make Russia return to reality.”
