Seal of biblical ruler found in Jerusalem

A clay seal from the 7th century BC bearing the name of the biblical ruler Adonijah was found in Jerusalem near the Western Wall, an important archaeological find from the First Temple period.

In 2019, at the foot of the Western Wall in Jerusalem, archaeologists discovered a tiny clay seal bearing the name of Adonijah, a royal official mentioned in the Bible. The discovery dates back to the seventh century BC, the period of the First Temple. This artefact is yet another confirmation of the historical authenticity of biblical events and real figures who played a role in the political life of ancient Israel.
