During a meeting at the Southern Command, the IDF discussed preliminary results of the war in Gaza. According to the 9tv report, at least 17,000 militants were killed in the 11-month conflict, which amounts to 41% of the official casualty figures reported by the Hamas Health Ministry.

Experts believe that Hamas’s statistics are inflated and misleading, but even if taken as accurate, the ratio of civilian casualties to militants is 1.5 to 1, an exceptionally low figure for urban combat scenarios.

A key achievement is that the IDF managed to identify 10,000 of the killed militants. This is significant, as identifying individuals during airstrikes can take weeks or months. Additionally, Hamas deliberately registers all combatants as civilian casualties.

According to military intelligence, Hamas’s military wing had around 30,000 militants before October 7. Besides Hamas, other groups like the “Islamic Jihad” operate in the region, bringing the total number of Palestinian militants in Gaza to around 60,000. Hamas also continues recruiting new militants to replace those killed or injured.
