The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the elimination of Rawhi Mushtaha, the head of the Gaza Strip’s government and a deputy to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. The IDF announced the successful operation on October 3, though the strike took place approximately three months ago, with confirmation of Mushtaha’s death only recently received.

Mushtaha was one of Sinwar’s closest allies and played a significant role within Hamas’ leadership. According to the IDF, Israeli Air Force jets targeted and destroyed a fortified underground complex in northern Gaza, used as a Hamas command and control center. Alongside Mushtaha, two other senior Hamas officials were killed: Sameh al-Siraj, the Minister of Security in Hamas’ political bureau, and Sami Odeh, head of the group’s “general security mechanism.”

This operation is part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to neutralize Hamas leaders and dismantle its terrorist infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.
