Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov urged the United States to pay attention to Moscow’s warnings about the potential for an escalation in the Ukraine conflict. His remarks, reported by RIA Novosti and relayed by Reuters, came on Friday, signaling increased tensions between the two superpowers.

Commenting on the possibility of a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Ryabkov stated that no meeting would take place, as the two sides “have nothing to discuss.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova raised concerns about the potential Western approval for Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes deep into Russian territory. She warned that such a move would fundamentally alter the nature of the conflict.

“We would like to remind the hawks on both sides of the Atlantic that they are playing with fire and have lost all sense of reality,” Zakharova said during a press briefing.

She further emphasized that the scale of the conflict, which she claimed was instigated by the West, risks becoming entirely different, potentially leading to dangerous consequences for the entire world.
