The Russian Black Sea Fleet, long considered a dominant military force in the region, is now facing significant setbacks. Thanks to the deployment of advanced unmanned naval systems, Ukrainian forces have effectively pushed the fleet to abandon Sevastopol, its main base in Crimea. This development was highlighted by Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi, Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems, in an interview with ArmyInform.

Sukharevskyi also revealed that Ukraine is actively developing multi-functional unmanned naval systems, which will soon be safeguarding the country’s maritime borders. A rigorous Research & Development process is currently underway, involving comprehensive research, theoretical work, and experimental efforts aimed at creating cutting-edge military technology in the shortest possible time.

“These advanced naval systems will soon become a reality, playing a crucial role in defending our maritime borders. This is our goal, and we are steadily moving towards achieving it,” stated the Colonel.

Additionally, Sukharevskyi discussed the creation of ground-based robots that are now performing a wide range of tasks on the front lines. He emphasized that the development of such technologies comes with numerous challenges, but a dedicated institutional testing ground is being established to trial these systems and develop operational tactics.

It is worth noting that Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, through its Defense Procurement Agency, has already acquired unmanned aerial vehicles and complexes worth 30 billion hryvnias, underscoring the country’s serious commitment to modernizing its armed forces.
