A woman whose company was tied to thousands of pager explosions in Lebanon and Syria during an attack on Hezbollah earlier this week had received vague “threats” days before the incident, according to her mother. Hungarian intelligence advised her against speaking to the media, her mother, Beatrix Barsony-Arciadiacono, told the Associated Press on Friday. Cristiana Barsony-Arciadiacono, the CEO of Budapest-based BAC Consulting, which was linked to the explosive pagers, is currently under the protection of Hungarian security services. According to the Taiwanese pager trademark owner, her company was responsible for producing the devices. However, her mother insists her daughter was not directly involved in the attacks and was merely a broker.

Hungarian Authorities’ Response

Hungarian security agencies have denied involvement, stating that the pagers were never produced on Hungarian soil. They also denied providing protection to Cristiana, confirming only that she has been interrogated several times since the investigation began. The attacks left at least 37 dead and over 3,000 injured.
