Donald Trump Claims Lack of Warning Before Pennsylvania Rally Incident

Кандидату у президенти від Республіканської партії та колишній президент США Дональд Трамп під час агітаційного мітингу в Батлері, штат Пенсільванія, США, 13 липня 2024 року.

Former President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that no one warned him about an issue ahead of last week’s rally in Pennsylvania, where he was grazed by a bullet.

“No one mentioned it, no one said there was a problem. I would have waited 15, they could have said wait 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 5 minutes, something. No one said anything,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

“I think it was a mistake,” he added. “How did someone get on that roof? And why wasn’t I informed?”

The Washington Post reported on Saturday that senior officials from the U.S. Secret Service repeatedly denied requests from Trump’s security team for additional personnel and equipment at events leading up to the assassination attempt.

The agency responsible for Trump’s protection turned down these requests, sometimes citing a lack of resources, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The Secret Service did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment outside of regular business hours.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee on July 22 regarding the shooting at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania last week.
