FBI Investigates Alleged Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump During Golf Game in Florida

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced on Sunday afternoon that it is investigating a suspected assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump following reports of gunfire near his Florida residence. This was reported by AFP.

“The FBI is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” the agency stated in a communiqué.

Donald Trump is safe after reports of gunfire in his vicinity, his campaign team confirmed. The former president, who was playing golf at his Florida club at the time, is “safe following reports of gunfire nearby,” said Steven Cheung, the communications director for Trump’s presidential campaign, according to Reuters and AFP. He added that “there are no further details at this time.”

The U.S. Secret Service, responsible for protecting presidents, former presidents, and key political figures, announced on X that it is “investigating, along with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, an incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2:00 PM (18:00 GMT).”
