Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, Bundesverfassungsschutz, on Monday accused Unit 29155 of Russia’s military intelligence service (GRU) of conducting cyberattacks against NATO and European Union nations, Reuters reports.

In a post on platform X (formerly Twitter), Bundesverfassungsschutz stated that its warning was issued in collaboration with the FBI, the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and other international partners.

Earlier this year, Berlin had already accused Russia of carrying out numerous cyberattacks against Germany’s Social Democrats and companies in logistics, aerospace, and IT sectors.

The warning highlighted that Unit 29155, also known as Cadet Blizzard or Ember Bear, is involved in espionage and sabotage activities, including destroying websites and leaking stolen data.

On Thursday, Estonia accused the Russian military intelligence service of launching cyberattacks against Ukraine, NATO, and EU members, including Estonia, since 2020. The joint operation “Toy Soldier” identified three officers from Unit 29155 involved in these attacks.
